Ouch!!!

I do have other happenings and pictures to post, but this one is so blog worthy I'll get to the other one's sometime. Daniel was riding a neighbors bike earlier this week when the front tire came off as he was going over a speed bump. I don't know how fast he was going but the poor kids face was the first object that hit the ground! Dennis took him into urgent care, but the dr. said that he needed a CT scan which they had to go to the ER for. They didn't get home until 4 in the morning. He ended up have a slight fracture in his upper jaw. His teeth are messed up so we are seeing what we need to do about his teeth now, he has a lisp when he talks! The backs of his hands got cut up and he need two stitches. And he ended up needing three staples in his head for a gash on the other side of his head which we didn't even notice until later! It's amazing how fast accidents happen and he doesn't really remember much at all. We've been to the oral surgeon and he said that he didn't need to have his jaw wired shut, so that's good, it will just have to heal on it's own. The dentist is doing a wait and see approach so see how his teeth are doing. He might or might not need root canals. He has really bad road rash all over the left side of his face, that will take time to heal. Now his eye is turning red from the broken blood vessels! Dennis said he looks like Two-face.

Poor Daniel!!! It looks so painful! I think the worse part is his eye and it probably doesn't even hurt! Has he been to school since? He could probably make up some serious "how it happened" stories for this one!

On a lighter note...we have a framed Certificate of Appreciation for him from the American Legion. They gave it to him for painting the crosses at the service project during our youth conference! We will bring it next time we come!

He's been out of school three days now, it happened Tuesday evening, so he's missed Wed, Thurs and Fri. He's got AIMS testing starting this Monday so he's got to go back!

wow! I would have started freaking out when I saw him!!! This is why I can't for Damond to become a doctor, so he can have the know how in these situations :)

Tell Daniel that he is very brave and I hope everything just heals itself... well, except for the teeth...I hope you have a good dentist :D

I think that has to be the worst bike wreck/ face plant I've seen for quite some time! I feel so bad for him!

Make sure you have a good dentist. I broke my two front teeth whe I was 9 and we didn't have a good dentist, it was several years before I had then fixed right. I had root canals in both and now have very expensive crowns. Crowns are always expensive but on your front teeth it's even worse. Good luck. My mom worked for a really good dentist down there if you need someone.

(My note is for Daniel):

That is totally wicked!! Nicely done Daniel! How did the bike fare? It is cooler if the vehicle gets totaled too.

Hope you have a quick recovery! How does this affect baseball season?

Logan still has some faint scars from his crash. You guys can compare beauty marks sometime.

Hope we get to visit you guys again soon (before the heat shows up.)
